TRACKTOWN 2012 - HAYWARD FIELD
Official Site for the 2012 US Olympic Trials  - Track & Field  June 21 - July 1, 2012

Welcome Spectators

Whether you live a few blocks away or have traveled many miles to get here, you will enjoy TrackTown USA: the majesty of historic Hayward Field, the rich history track and field, and the heroes of yesterday and today haunt the East Grandstand.  With its backdrop of evergreen covered hills and the intimacy of its covered wooden grandstands, Hayward Field has been called the Carnegie Hall of track and field, and you will experience a meet filled with high drama and virtuoso performances.

In 2008, TrackTown reignited its passion for track and field as it hosted the 2008 Olympic Team Trials Track & Field and celebrated at the Eugene 08 Festival.  Four years later the commitment to the sport has deepened and the activities on TrackTown Plaza will return.

The U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Track & Field is one of the world’s most compelling meets. For the athletes, it is the culmination of years of hard work, with only the top three contenders in each event making the team to represent the USA in London. Each competitor puts everything on the line to make the team. It is a dramatic, inspirational, emotional experience for everyone – athletes and spectators alike. TrackTown12 is committed to hosting a meet with ideal competitive conditions for all participants, and proving once again that Hayward Field is truly the best venue for track and field in the U.S.

Adjacent to Hayward Field, the 20 acre TrackTown Plaza Fan Experience will include live track action viewing on jumbo video screens, musical entertainment and athlete interviews on stage, great food and beverage options, interactive track & field experiences, autograph opportunities, engaging technology, exciting contests and commercial features and activities, as well as a coordinated transportation system, and well-trained volunteers to assist with questions throughout a community-wide hospitality system. The TrackTown Plaza Fan Experience is free and will be open before, during and after the competition. It will be the place to go for meet spectators as well as those who do not have tickets.

Throughout the community, you will find special exhibits, tours, and activities. The world renowned Oregon Bach Festival happens during the same weeks as TrackTown12 and will have concerts at venues all over town. Whether you live in Eugene, are visiting for the first time or have been here before, the meet schedule allows you to plan day trips to the Oregon Coast, area wineries, country gallery and farm tours, rafting and fishing, and much more. Check with Travel Lane County for more information.
